I would love to see the power curves on both of these motors. I have a feeling the peak numbers don’t tell the whole story.

I wonder how much of the differences could be resolved with matching the tires on both cars? I think that’s where the BRZ gets screwed when bought fresh off the lot.

Came here to make this point.

Primacy HPs are crippling to performance.

After finally seeing one in person on the road, I’m still not really sold on the styling much at all. The electric power steering is also a concern, as all previous Miatas I’ve driven have had nice, weighty steering and one of John Davis’ few quibbles with the ND was a detached steering feel. The last sad part is the lack of a stripped down performance model... the goofy tacked on screen is a pet peeve, but an open diff/bouncy suspension/small brakes/meh wheels and tires would be less desirable (maybe nitpicking just a bit with the GPS). Still—it’s hard to argue with a nice manual transmission, low weight, NA engine, and RWD in a new car—and I really hope to drive one soon.

This is BS. Why are they comparing the clubsport Miata with a BRZ, when the performance model is the TRD FR-S with stiffer springs and good tires?

The BRZ really does have some of the weakest Pansy-ass horsepower ever stuffed into a car.

Granted it was also largely the fault of the BRZ’s huge gearing, but it’s still a very disappointing engine. Weak. Sounds awful. Lousy torque curve. No goddam turbo.

Just seeing those slides at the end makes me want a Miata more, let alone the rest of the video. Come on Fiata hurry up!
